In the community of Amakuriat parish is made up of four priest, Fr Philip as the parish priest and the superior of the community, Fr Jesus who is the community bursar, Fr Kelly Wamalwa and Fr john. They are from four nationalities that is South Sudanese, Mexican, Kenyan and Spaniard. This different nationalist is a great experience to me where I had the opportunity to broaden the diversity of culture. Living a community such like that with four different nationality and personality enable me to understand that I must be ready to interact and leave with anyone. It also helped me to understand other peoples culture. That community also I learned that one day I should be ready to be sent and work with other people assigned to work together. The last one is that I should be able to cooperate well with the people I am living with to make a better society or mission. They lived peaceful and the community aspect being emphasized in the house it was there and I felt good for their unity. They lived simple life which also enable me to know that, I should embrace simple life in this my vocation journey
Community activities were compulsory to all the people living there. We shared meals together when it is time for meal there after we could some recreation or watch the news together. Through sharing meals together, it also helped me to know more about them since it is through there that we shared a lot about each other. We had community prayers, in the morning we had louds together before the morning mass and this was encouraging to grow in the aspect of prayers. Even when remained two the prayers were there. This aspect of prayer made to learn that prayers are crucial tool for the mission and I should not by anytime seize to communicate to God through prayers that strength is need. This also was nice to me since we meet together the experience during the week.
In the parish were in charge of taking care of the poultry, pigs and security. The experience was so enriching to me. This one I came learn to be fully ready to carry out my responsibilities without any difficulty and be always flexible for any service I am needed to perform. I really love to stream flowers and feeding the small dogs that were under our care. These activities did not just make me responsible but also I learn to be hardworking in whatever responsibility I have been
Pastoral Experience
The parish it was very wide itself, comprising or divided into three zones that is Amakuriate zone, Kasey zone and Chelopoy zone .it has 52 chapels with only 4priest. This is already a challenge to me to always be ready to go extra miles just as the priest here do. my pastoral experience during the week we were visiting schools for catechism and p.e lessons. Through I interaction with children I was able to gain more courage and to understand the importance of the mission is to give hope to the children of God. During that time, I also get in touched with lower classes pupils where we danced with them and some Christian story with them, thus it helped to be able to know how to handle children and ways to teach them because they are not easy. It also made to be flexible to work with any group as long as the mission demands me to help anywhere
In the parish we would give reflections during week day masses which was good for to gain more courage and to deepen my understanding of the scriptures through weekly sharing. Through give reflection it equips me with more experience to always prepare in advance what to share the word of God to the people without any fear as before. I was also taking part some lesson with CWA where I taught them some lesson for two consecutive weeks. Though I could not speak their language but at least there was a translator. That was a new reality for me during that time since I am used where there is no translation.
Despite of language barrier were able to visit various Christian in their homes and this was very nice experience since we are being trained to become missionaries. I got experience from these that it would be good for me to always face new reality in evangelization like language but should be a motivation factor for to learn new culture and language of the people I met. Thanks to fr Kelly he was the one who would take us to visit various home upon reaching the outstation were struggling to get them because of the language and unavailability of the catechists who were crucial.
From Wednesday or Thursday were accompanying the priests to various outstation. We stayed there until Sunday before we come back to the parish. This experienced was that always should not or the mission would be always a place for comfort but to reach to the people neat them. In the outstation there also it was nice experience for me visiting the small Christian communities and staying with them. I learned to be in love with people regardless of their status
